WNM Racasa tops Chess Division meet

MANILA---Woman National Master (WNM) Antonella Berthe Murillo Racasa of Victory Christian International School swept her three matches, including a final round win over Denielle Valgomera of San Joaguin-Kalawaan High School to CAP the Secondary Girls Division crown in the Chess Division meet held at the Liberato Damian Elementary School in Pasig City last Monday, Dec. 11.
WNM Racasa also beat Eloisa Jade Alcantara of ADT and Denisse Rafol of Rizal High School in the first two rounds of this single round robin format.

With the win, WNM Racasa booked her seat in the National Capital Region chess meet next month.

It shall be recalled that WNM Racasa also won the Pasig Alliance of Private School Administrators (PAPRISA) chess championship at the Niño Jesus House of Studies in Pasig City last Dec. 6.

WNM Racasa, looking supremely confident in this biggest gathering of the young woodpushers, posted perfect seven points to capture the title in the seven-round tournament, applying 20 minutes plus 10 seconds increment time control format.

WNM Racasa's next assignment is the 2022 Batang Pinoy National Championships to be held on December 17 to 22 in Vigan, Ilocos Sur.

WNM Racasa is also scheduled to compete in the GMG CHESS Open Rapid Chess Tournament on December 31 and the Sir Herky Del Mundo Memorial Open Rapid Chess Tournament on January 3, 2023, both will be held at the second floor Open Kitchen Foodhall, Rockwell Business Center, Sheridan Street, Mandaluyong City.

WNM Racasa along with her father/coach Roberto, 13-time Philippine Open Champion Grandmaster Rogelio "Joey" Madrigal Antonio Jr. and National Master Almario Marlon Quiroz Bernardino Jr. is scheduled to compete in the 2023 Bob Wade Masters and Challengers slated from January 13 to 21 at the Howick Community Church Complex in Auckland New Zealand.-Marlon Bernardino-
