Sebastian rules Bustamante Open chess tournament

MANILA---RONNIE SEBASTIAN of Talavera, Nueva Ecija ruled via tiebreak the the 1st Jacinto Y Bustamante Open Chess Tournament held at the SM Megacenter in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija last November 27, 2022.

Sebastian, tied for first-second places with Jerry Areque 6.5 points apiece in the 10 minutes + 3 seconds delay time control event organized by Mr. Benjamin Bauto of Cabanatuan City Chess Club.

With the highest tiebreak points, Sebastian took the title, trophy plus the top purse of P5,000 while Areque finished second and went home with the medal plus the runner-up purse of P3,000.
Joselito Dela Cruz wound up third with 6.0 points for P2,000 plus medal.

Rounding up the top 12 with 5.0 points each were Carlo Lucas (fourth), Edgar Bugtong (fifth), Joseph Ocampo (sixth), Jeremy Ramos (seventh), Jonathan Alindogan (eight), Era Bauto (ninth), Johnny Guerrero (tenth), Ferdie Bugay (eleventh) and Samuel Mateo Jr. (twelve).

Meanwhile, the registration is now on full swing for the staging of Richard Ocampo Rapid chess tournament on December 18, 2022 at the 3rd/F SM Megacenter in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.-Marlon Bernardino-
