Green dishes, Curry sizzles as Golden State singes the Cleveland Cavaliers, 106-101

Chase Center, California--- Draymond Green could not wipe the smile off his face. With 1:18 left on the clock, a dime from Green resulted in a 27-foot, 3-pointed dagger by Stephen Curry that tied up the game at 98 all. Kevon Looney, not to be outdone, got into the act with 54 seconds left and threw a long pass to Curry who made a lay-up that pushed their team 2 points ahead, 100-98. By then, the home crowd and the entire Warriors bench were all smiles.
Curry shot 15-for 23 FG’s and 6-for-11 from downtown as he painted another obra maestra- scoring 18 of his 40 points in the final quarter, thus, helping the Warriors get the Dub against the tenacious Cavaliers, 106-101. Of interest, Curry extended his NBA record to 200 games with a minimum of one 3-PT’er in each outing.
It was a battle of attrition, all night long, with both teams producing spectacular 3-pointers, drives to the basket, layups and dunks. For each of the four quarters, both teams were competitive, took turns being in the lead six times, and were never apart by more than six points.
By half-time, the sharp-shooting Cavaliers took a 52-48 lead.
In the third quarter, Cleveland jabbed the Warriors with 14 unchallenged points.
The Warriors emerged from the drought late in the third quarter and carried their momentum into the fourth quarter. In the championship rounds, both teams took turns pummeling each other from long and short range until Stephen Curry took over all the way to the 35-second mark wherein, he made another 26-foot trey to seal the game.
Green was the unsung hero of the night as he led the Warriors with 10 rebounds and 13 assists. His flimsy 2-point output is a testament to his unselfishness in spreading the ball around---Draymond, as we know him.
Klay Thompson, still seeking his groove, grabbed a key defensive rebound (at 1:29) that led to Green dishing to Curry for the exciting game-tying three-pointer. Thompson had a tepid night but contributed at key junctures. He produced just 9 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and 1 assist.
Jordan Poole, who was unproductive during the previous two games, found his mark and shot 6-for-13 FG’s and drained four treys, totaling 18 points.
Andrew Wiggins did his part pouring in 20 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block.
Kevon Looney scored 7 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists.
As a team, the Warriors shot 48.8% FG and 41.7% 3-PT and displayed flashes of brilliance that made them last season’s NBA champions.
As a team, the Cavaliers shot 40.2% FG and only converted 26.7% 3-PT.
D. Mitchell led Cleveland with 29, followed by E. Mobley with 20, D. Garland with 15, J. Allen with 13, and C. LeVert with 11 points, respectively.
