PH chess wunderkind Nika Juris Nicolas bounces back strong in beating Mongolia

MANILA---THE Philippines' chess wunderkind Nika Juris Nicolas vented her ire on compatriot Deandra Castronuevo in the fifth round and Dariya Amar of Mongolia in the sixth round to spring back to life after a sorry fourth round defeat to Sreekarthika Velmurugan of Singapore in the Eastern Asia Youth Chess Championship 2022 Tuesday at Asia Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.

Reeling from a loss to the Singapore woodpusher, Nika bounced back strong by edging Castronuevo and Amar, in order in this Girl's 10 under class applying Standard time control format.
Earlier, Nika defeated Kim Doyeon B of South Korea in the first round then split the points with Anu Bayart-Uchral of Mongolia in the second round and countryman Gllasea Ann Hilario in the third round.

Nika, playing under the tutelage of her coaches Lourecel Hernandez Ecot, Von Francisco and Raul Damuy will slug it out with Fan Wen Xi of Hongkong in the seventh round.
Accompanied by her mother Nikki de Vega who is also an award winning lawyer-broadcaster and his father lawyer Krisanto Karlo Nicolas, Nika is top player of Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto and Coach Franco Camillo.-Marlon Bernardino-
