Asuela rules GMG Chess Monthly Tournament

MANILA---ELLAN Asuela of Bacolod City topped the GMG Chess Monthly Tournament virtually held recently at Lichess Platform.
Asuela, one of the brightest players from the Visayas, finished with 10.0 points on ten wins and two loses in the one-day blitz competition hosted by Thailand based National Master/Coach Gerald Ferriol.

Asuela finished half a point ahead of Jan Clifford Labog and Eric Labog Jr., who shared second to third places with 9.5 points.
Three players, led by NM Elwin Retanal, shared fourth to sixth places with nine points.

The 1997 Philippine Junior Champion Retanal came through with seven wins, four draws and one loss.

NM Noel dela Cruz and Ajjesh Jr. of India also submitted nine points in a tie with Retanal.

Completing the Top 9 finishers were Ben Ari Yannay, Kartayva Anadkat and Francis Talaboc with 8.5 points apiece.
In solo tenth place with 8.0 points is NM Julius Sinangote, who posted eight wins and four losses.

Meanwhile, Tiger Hu won the 2nd GMG Chess Tournament (OTB) October 2022 edition.
