
WNM Sebastian beats Croatian WFM in Round 9

SARDINIA, ITALY---Woman National Master Mhage Gerriahlou Fernandez Sebastian (Elo 1865) defeated Woman Fide Master Anamarija Radikovic (Elo 2112) of Croatia in the ninth round of the World Junior Chess Championship 2022 Girls Under 20 division on Thursday here at the Palmasera Village Resort, Cala Gonone of the municipality of Dorgali, Province of Nuoro, in the region of Sardinia.
Playing white, WNM Sebastian, the pride of Far Eastern University-Diliman prevailed after 55 moves of a King's Indian defense.
WNM Sebastian of Flora, Apayao has 5.5 points from five wins, three defeats and a draw after nine (9) rounds.
However, Fide Master Alekhine Fabiosa Nouri (Elo 2251) yielded to Fide Master Milos Milosevic (Elo 2371) of Serbia in 35 moves of Sicilian defense.
The Escalante City, Negros Occidental native Nouri remains at 4.0 points with two rounds more to play in the 11 rounds Swiss system.
The PH chess campaign was made possible with the support of National Chess Federation of the Philippines chairman/president Prospero "Butch" Arreza Pichay Jr., NCFP CEO GM Jayson O.
