Big Task for FM Alekhine Fabiosa Nouri when he faces GM Muradli Mahammad of Azerbaijan in Round 6

SARDINIA, ITALY---Expect more fireworks when the sixth round of the World Junior Chess Championship 2022 gets underway Sunday (3:30PM (Italy Time) // 9:30PM (Philippine Time) at the Club Esse Palmasera Resort in Cala Gonone in Sardinia, Italy here.

Fide Master Alekhine Fabiosa Nouri of the Philippines will slug it out with Grandmaster Muradli Mahammad of Azerbaijan.
Nouri is still on track to earn his first International Master (IM) norm and a possibly his first Grandmaster (GM) norm.
The 79th seed Nouri (Elo 2251) halved the point with 33rd seed Antoni Kozak (Elo 2440) of Poland in Saturday's fifth round while the 7th seeded Mahammad yielded to 73rd seed Fide Master Nadav Zemach (Elo 2293) of Israel.

The 16-year-old Escalante City, Negros Occidental native Nouri now has 2.5 points on account of one win, three draws and a loss in five outings in the Open Under 20 division.

"I will do my very best for flag and country." said Nouri, a Grade 10 student of La Concepcion College, City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan whose European chess campaign is being supported by Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose "Bong" Villareal Lacson, Provincial Sports Coordinator Anthony Carlo Agustin, Senator Mark Villar, Bounty Agro Ventures, Inc. (BAVI) President & General Manager Ronald Daniel Ricaforte Mascariñas, Buena Viel Construction and Project Management top honcho Engr. Jojo Buenaventura, City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan mayor Arthur Robes, NCFP Vice President for Visayas Rep. Neri Javier Colmenares and NCFP Vice President for Mindanao Sen. Manny Pacquiao.

Meanwhile, Woman National Master Mhage Gerriahlou F. Sebastian (Elo 1865) will try her best to win four consecutive games when she goes up against Woman Fide Master Hajiyeva Laman (Elo 2138) of Azerbaijan.

Sebastian, the pride of Apayao, playing under the banner of multi-titled Far Eastern University-Diliman toppled Woman Fide Master Gabija Simkunaite (Elo 2014) of Lithuania in 34 moves of Sicilian Defense, Rossolimo variation to raise her total 3.0 points on 3 wins and 2 loses in the Girls Under 20 division.
Laman, on the other hand subdued Sarabella Norlamo (Elo 1946) of Finland.

The PH chess campaign was made possible with the support of National Chess Federation of the Philippines chairman/president Prospero "Butch" Arreza Pichay Jr., NCFP CEO GM Jayson O. Ledda and Fide delegate Casto "Toti" Abundo of the Asian Chess Federation.
Nouri and Sebastian are joined in Italy by National Master Almario Marlon Quiroz Bernardino Jr. and Susan Grace Tana Neri, who serve as their coaches.-Marlon Bernardino-
