Mar Aviel Carredo wins Kamatyas Invitational Kiddies Fide Rated Chess Tournament

MANILA---Mar Aviel Carredo pocketed the top honors in the Kamatyas Invitational Kiddies Fide Rated Chess Tournament held at the Multisys Technologies Corporation in Paranaque City on Saturday.

The Quezon City bet Carredo collected 4.5 points in five outings.
Carredo scored victories over Elieza Marie Jaen in the first round, Kyle Jhazmin Clarito in the second round, Marlon Aurellano Balbaboco Jr. in the third round and Utkarsh Ujjwal Jha in the fourth round.

He split the point with Jude Angelo Dableo in the fifth round.
John Curt Valencia of Dasmarinas City and Daniella Bianca Cruz of Malolos City were tied at 2nd to 3rd with 4.0 points each.
Jude Angelo Dableo, the son of former Asian Zonal champion Grandmaster candidate Ronald Dableo was fourth overall with 3.5 points.

Rounding up to the top 9 with 3.0 points each were Utkarsh Ujjwal Jha, Jan Carlsen Matencio, Yvan Laurence Dumadag, Bobby Ortiguesa and Princess Mendoza.

Marlon Aurellano Balbaboco Jr. settled for solo 10th place with 2.5 points in this 1 day event, organized by Kamatyas Chess Club led by International Master Roderick Nava and supported by Mr. David Almirol.

Meanwhile, Fide Master Jose Efren Bagamasbad of Quezon City won the Seniors division with 6.0 points followed by second place Robert Amarrador (5.5 points) of Infanta, Quezon and third placer National Master Rudy Ibanez (5.0 points) of Antipolo.-Marlon Bernardino-
