Efren ?Bata? Reyes should have switched monickers with 14 year old Austin Murphy whom ?The Magician? routed 15-6 in the International Pool Tour Viewers 8-Ball Challenge Match.
As Reyes coasted to victory against a nervous kid who couldn?t make a ball early in the match but did make a small run down the stretch but the experience of Reyes proved far too much and he casually ran away with the win.
In a post-match interview Reyes said his experience was simply too much for Murphy who conceded that he ?started too late? and never got a second chance.
Reyes and Murphy finished No. 1 and 2 in an internet worldwide poll where pool fans were given a chance to vote for the players they wanted to see face each other in the race-to-fifteen, 8-ball final.
Reyes who was lagging behind in the early stages of the poll behind Vilmos Foldes of Hungary and Gerda Hoffstatter surged to the top behind the support of fans of philboxing.com following an appeal for support for Reyes by site owner Dong Secuya.
Reyes himself requested us along with Aristeo ?Putch? Puyat who is his sponsor to thank the philboxing and Pacland members sincerely for their support of Reyes.
