Antipolo City team to compete in Sen. Manny Pacquiao Tuna Festival chess meet

MANILA---THE Antipolo City, Rizal team players are ready for the Sen. Manny Pacquiao Tuna Festival meet Tatluhan Chess Team Tournament in General Santos City from September 2 to 4, 2022, reported Antipolo City, Rizal Playing Team Manager Coach/Pastor Jason Rojo.

The other competitors are Fide Master Christopher Castellano, Candidate Master Genghis Katipunan Imperial and Dep Ed Teacher Sonny Dela Rosa.

"I personally believe that Filipino possess skills and talents to excel in this kind of mind sports game (chess)," said Antipolo City, Rizal Playing Team Manager Coach/Pastor Jason Rojo.

"We would like to thank Antipolo City mayor Casimiro "Jun" Ynares III and Rizal Province governor Rebecca “Nini” Alcantara Ynares who are supporting the Antipolo City, Rizal chess team in this tough and prestigious event," he added.

Antipolo City mayor Casimiro "Jun" Ynares III and Rizal Province governor Rebecca “Nini” Alcantara Ynares backed the woodpushers campaign in this prestigious event, hosted by Sen. Manny Pacquiao and businessman Changsuk Lyu, organized by United States chess master Rodolfo "Jun" Panopio Jr.

Besides the General Santos City competition,FM Castellano, a former University of the Philippines Conservatory of Music student and a Tenor Music Artist, will also compete against some of the world's brigthest chess athletes in the South Island Chess Championships from October 5 to 9, 2022 at the Kelvin Hotel in Invercargill, New Zealand.-Marlon Bernardino-
