RTU athletes shine in Penkak Silat and Basketball

MANILA---Rizal Technological University lived up to its billing as it athletes shine in Penkak Silat and Basketball.
Ian Christian Calo salvaged a bronze medal in the Men's Tunggal Class E (65-70kg) at 2022 World Pencak Silat Championships in Malaysia.

Sandy Ceñal, on the other hand, a Bachelor of Science and Physical Education (BSPE) Graduate Student in 2014, former senior mens' basketball player was drafted in Terrapirma Dyip is a professional basketball team playing in the Philippine Basketball Association. The team is owned by Jose Alvarez of Terrafirma Realty Development Corporation while head coach is Johnedel Cardel and Team manager is Ronald Tubid.

Rizal Technological University, Mandaluyong City President Dr. Eugenia M. Yangco lauded the athletes, Ian Christian Calo for winning the bronze medal in the 2022 World Pencak Silat Championships in Malaysia and Sandy Ceñal was drafted in Terrapirma Dyip, playing in the Philippine Basketball Association saying "I'd like to congratulate the athletes. They made RTU Mandaluyong City proud with their achievements.

Sports Development and Wellness Center Sports Director Manny Dayawon, meantime, got the service of former RTU chess player National Master Almario Marlon Quiroz Bernardino Jr. to help the Blue Thunder in team preparation for this year's National Capital Region-State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association meet.

"I hope coach Marlon will still support us in our preparations," he said.
