
QC earns twin wins in PCAP

MANILA – Quezon City Simba's Tribe ruled Saturday’s match of the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) after ousting Rizal Batch Towers and Olongapo Rainbow Team 7 virtually held at Lichess Platform.
The Simba's Tribe began the evening with 12.5-8.5 domination over Rizal Batch Towers and followed it up with 18-3 triumph over Olongapo Rainbow Team 7 to climb to 11-18 slate.
Against Rizal, Quezon City triumphed in the blitz game via full points from Michaela Concio (Board 2), Playing Team Owner Danilo Ponay (Board 4), Freddie Talaboc (Board 5), Noel Jay Estacio (Board 6) and Joseph Navarro (Board 7) and draw by NM Robert Arellano (Board 2).
Quezon City also defeated Rizal in rapid following victories by Concio (Board 3), Ponay (Board 4), Navarro (Board 7) and draw by Arellano (Board 2).
The squad stunned Rainbow Team 7 in the blitz game with wins by veteran radio commentator/sportswriter National Master Almario Marlon Quiroz Bernardino Jr. against Import Nugraha Yoga in Board 2 and Navarro opposite Glenn Hullana Garcia in Board 7.
Import Wagish Kumai Rai (Board 1), Concio (Board 2), Ponay (Board 4), Talaboc (Board 5) and Arellano (Board 6) won via default for a possible 7-0 shut out wins of Quezon City.
In rapid category, Quezon City dismantled Olongapo behind victories by Ricky Echala (Board 1), Concio (Board 3), Ponay (Board 4), Talaboc (Board 5), Arellano (Board 6) and draws by Navarro (Board 7).
