
Costbusters Philippines Corp. Chess Team continues winning ways

MANILA--- The brilliance of Keith Adriane Ilar carried the day for the defending champion Costbusters Philippines Corp. Chess Team after the sixth episode of competitions in the Season 3 of the Philippine Chess League (PCL) dubbed as the Mayor Sara Duterte Chess Online tournament virtually held via Lichess platform last Sunday, May 1, 2022.
Ilar, the pride of El Salvador, Misamis Oriental, scored 20 points to lead Costbuster's 935-point output ahead of Durianberg (933), IIEE Chess Club (897), South Luzon Kings (723), White Knights Chess Club Team B (705) and MCL One Kid Chess Team (391) in Group A.
Cyrus Vladimir Francisco of Valenzuela City also contributed 18 points while Yosef Immanuel Morada of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan tallied 14 points for the Costbusters Phils. Corp. Chess Team supported by Philippine Chess God Father Billy Joe Ereno.
The triumvirate are showing the way in the Youth Team Battle.
"We got hard-earned victories tonight. I would like to commend Keith Adriane Ilar, Cyrus Vladimir Francisco and Yosef Immanuel Morada for leading the team in the Youth Team Battle." said Billy Joe Ereno, team owner of Costbusters Phils. Corp. Chess Team.
In the Adult category, Francis Talaboc, Kevin Arquero and Richie Jocson notched 17, 16 and 15 points, respectively, Stephen Manzanero and Jones Maghuyop chipped inn 14 points apiece while Engr. Bren Sasot, Carl Zirex Sato and Roumundo Edades Jr. scored 11 points, 10 points and 10 points, in order.
Engineer Edwin Lorenzo, a former University of the East varsity player is doing well in the Senior category after tallying 12 markers while Kate Ordizo and Yaneah Sofia Morada notched 14 points and 11 points in the Female category.
The PCL Youth online team tourney has a time control of 5 minutes where the players can play as many games within a one and a half-hour period according to Tournament Director Engr. Joel Anthony Hicap.
The top two teams in each group after a total of eight preliminary episodes will advance to the quarterfinals.
The score in the Youth Team Battle, Adult Team Battle, Senior Team Battle and Female Team Battle will combined all the total output to determined the overall team winners.-Marlon Bernardino-
