CONCEPCION LOOKS AT POSSIBLE IBF TITLE SHOT

North American Boxing Federation super bantamweight champion Bernabe Concepcion who is deep in training at the Wild Card Gym of trainer Freddie Roach for his bout against American Torrence Daniels in Queretaro, Mexico on April 26 says his handlers are looking at a possible title fight against IBF champion Steve Molitor, next.

Molitor, nicknamed "The Canadian Kid" is an undefeated southpaw with a record of 27-0 with 10 knockouts.

In an overseas telephone conversation with Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today, the hard-hitting young prospect who is managed by former boxer Aljoe Jaro said he has been sparring with several Mexicans in preparation for the Daniels fight.

He described Daniels, a former Olympian and a good amateur fighter, as someone with ?speed but no real punching power.? Concepcion who has a record of 24-1-1 with 13 knockouts is expected to dispose of Daniels and set himself up for a title shot.

Concepcion said he has been training since early March and expects to be in top condition on fight night.

At 33 years of age Daniels is bound to have trouble with the solidly-built Concepcion who is coming off an impressive title defense against Juan Ruiz. WBC president Don Jose Sulaiman said Concepcion deserved the win over the rugged Ruiz in what was a close fight and indicated he was impressed with the Filipino who ?connected with the cleaner and more telling blows? against the aggressive Ruiz.

Concepcion won the NABF crown with a spectacular fourth round TKO over the highly-touted Gabriel Eliizondo on August 4 last year. Concepcion dropped Elizondo in the third round and then put him away with a wicked left-right combination.
