GM "Joey" Antonio eyes another OTB chess title in 2nd Kamatyas Fide Rapid Rated Invitational

MANILA---Grandmaster Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr. will be seeking another over the board chess title when the 2nd Kamatyas Fide Rapid Rated Invitational Chess Tournament gets underway on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the MultiSys Headquarters Multinational Village in Paranaque City.

Antonio, 13-time national open champion is fresh from winning the 2022 Grandmaster Rosendo Carreon Balinas Jr. Negros Oriental Open Chess Tournament held at the Lamberto Macias Sport Complex in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental last April 17, 2022.

Grandmaster Darwin Laylo is seeing action along with defending champion International Masters Daniel Quizon, Paulo Bersamina, Ronald Dableo, Rolando Nolte, Richiellieu Salcedo III, Barlo Nadera, Chito Garma and Angelo Young.

The 9-round Swiss System tournament, organized by International Master Roderick Nava of Kamatyas Chess Club and backed up by Founder and CEO of software engineering solutions provider Multisys Technologies Corp. David Almirol Jr., dangles a top purse of P30,000.

Other woodpushers vying in the 15 minutes plus 5 seconds increment event are Fide Masters David Elorta, Randy Segarra, Nelson Villanueva and Narquingden Reyes.

Tournament Director is Fide National Arbiter Byron Gabrentina Villar while International Arbiter Reden Cruz served as Chief Arbiter.-Marlon Bernardino-
