Maharlika Chess Tour online tourney set

MANILA---THE 1st Maharlika Chess Tour 2022 Online Blitz Tournament gets underway on April 24 via lichess platform.

"The individual online tournament is open to all Filipino players with free registration, first come, first served. Limited to 500 players only," said Arena Grandmaster Dr. Fred Paez, one of the four team owner of Laguna Heroes, inaugural champion of Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP).

Bannering the masters challenge in the tournament, backed by friends of Maharlika Party list are members of Laguna Heroes that include two-time Asian Junior champion Grandmaster Rogelio "Banjo" Barcenilla Jr., Fide Master Austin Jacob Literatus, Fide Master Jose Efren Bagamasbad, Woman National Master Jean Karen Enriquez, Michaella Concio, Kimuel Aaron Lorenzo, Vince Angelo Medina, Apollo Agapay, Arjie Bayangat and Richie Jocson.

The 1 day online three minutes blitz tournament, organized by Laguna Chess Association in close cooperation with St. Peregrine Dental Clinic, CVJR Builders, Pro Source Construction Supply and We Evolve Manila, offers P5,000 to the champion. The second placer will get P3,000, third 2,000, fourth P1,000 and fifth P700. Sixth to 10th placers will pocket P500 each.

Special prizes worth P1,000 each for the top performers lady, senior, junior, kiddie, executive and PWD.

Meanwhile, the Maharlika Golf Tour 2022 gets going on April 29 at the Greg Normal Course, Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in General Trias City, Cavite.-Marlon Bernardino-
