
Gamas wins Mistica 10-Ball Championship; pockets P40,000

MANILA---Edwin Gamas added the First Maestro Mistica Custom Cues 10 Ball Open Tournament to his growing list of tournament achievements when he won on Sunday at the 3rd floor Bowling and Billiards, Sta. Lucia Mall in Cainta, Rizal.
Gamas defeated Bryant Saguiped, 8-7, in the semi-final round and Franz de Leon, 9-3, in the finals to win the top prize of P40,000 plus Maestro Mistica Custom Cues and a trophy in this 3-day (April 1 to 3, 2022) Games and Amusement Board (GAB) sanctioned tournament backed up by Ropa Commercial, LifeWave x39, Wilde Blue Chalk and actor Nino Muhlach.
De Leon received the runner-up prize of P20,000 and a trophy.
On the road to the semi-finals, Gamas needed to beat John Paul Ladao, 8-7, in the Round-of-16, and Albert Espinola, 8-5, in the quarter-final to arranged a titular showdown with de Leon, who brought down John Rell Saguiped, 8-7, and Greg Dira, 8-6, respectively.
"I want to show through my actions that athletic excellence can be achieved with dedication, hard-work and support," Gamas referring the undying support of Billiard Promoter JCO Gold Realty President Jyre Dominic Obligacion, Billiard Promoter Ramon "Maestro Monching" Mistica, Billiard Promoter Edgard Acaba, Billiard Promoter Mr. CY, tournament director Darwin Bernadaz and Joel Estella Calzado.
"I would like to dedicate my victory to my family, friends, to the organizer and sponsor of this First Maestro Mistica Custom Cues 10 Ball Open Tournament ," he added.
Other pool wizards who competed First Maestro Mistica Custom Cues 10 Ball Open Tournament were Southeast Asian Games gold medallist Chezka Centeno, Japan Champion Roel Esquilo, Former Germany World Junior of Pool representative Mark Aristotle Mendoza, Jack de Luna, youthful Bernie Benok, Regalario and AJ Manas.-Marlon Bernardino-
