
Laylo, Dableo to invade Bulacan Open Chess tournament

MANILA---TOP chess masters in the country will invade Bulacan as Grandmaster Darwin Laylo and International Master Ronald Dableo confirmed their entry in the Bulacan Open Chess Championship dubbed as 1st Engineer Ricardo V. Paragua Memorial Open Chess Tournament on April 10 at the Alix Complex, Meycauayan, Bulacan.
Laylo has played many times for the Philippines Olympiad team.
He was part of the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games silver medalist team together with Grandmasters Wesley So, Eugene Torre, Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr. and Mark Paragua.
Others coming are International Masters (IMs) Jan Emmanuel Garcia, Paulo Bersamina, Angelo Young, Barlo Nadera, Ricardo de Guzman, Chito Garma, Daniel Quizon, Michael Concio Jr. and Chris Ramayrat Jr.
Fide Masters seeing action include Roel Abelgas, Alekhine Nouri, Randy Segarra, Christopher Castellano and Robert Suelo Jr.
Also joining are National Masters Nick Nisperos, Michael Gotel, Noel dela Cruz, Edgardo Garma, Mark Jay Bacojo and Jerry Areque.
Bulacan Chess Association president Richard dela Cruz said also taking the challenge are non master Jhulo Gloran, Joey Lapurga, Victor Anas, Ricky Batcho, Chin Lim and Genghis Imperial.
The champion will receive P7,000; second placer, P4,000 and third placer, P3,000.
The fourth placer will get P2,000; fifth, P1,000; and sixth to 10th , P500 each.
Special awards will also be given P500 each to the Best Lady, Kiddy (14-U), PWD, Golden Boy (50 and above) Performers at least 3 participants in this 1 day event, 15 minutes plus 5 seconds delay, 7 rounds Swiss System NCFP Chairman/President Rep. Prospero "Butch" Pichay Jr. backed up tournament.
