Promoter Bobby Bostick says he is coming to Manila along with partner Cezar Trevino but has given no indication of the purpose of his visit or who he plans to meet with.
Bobby Bostick Promotions had earlier signed an agreement with US-based Dante Ortiz who became the co-manager of Florante Condes even before he became IBF minimum weight champion on the basis of a contract entered into with boxing manager Aljoe Jaro. Ortiz paid Jaro $10,000.
Bostick confirmed his Manila visit in an email to Viva Sports/Manila Standard in which he said Trevino ?will be one of the gentlemen who will make the trip." However, Bostick stressed that Ortiz ?has nothing to do with my company and will not be with our group.?
It once again reflected the bitter struggles within the group that handled Condes prior to his mandatory title fight against Indonesia?s Muhammad Rachman last July 7 when Condes won the title in a close fight in Jakarta. Ortiz visited Manila along with Trevino and former world junior welterweight champion Morris East some time after the fight carrying a check of $9,500 for Condes and engaged Aljoe Jaro in sometimes heated arguments during meetings at the GAB but then appeared to have settled their differences before leaving Manila.
Aljoe Jaro earlier indicated that Indonesian promoter Fandy Sugiarto had informed him he was joining Bostick in Manila on February 24 for talks but didn?t know any other details. At the same time Aljoe Jaro said he didn?t wish to create any confusion or trouble since Condes? title defese against Raul ?Rayito? Garcia had been approved by the IBF following a purse bid. Aljoe Jaro, a boxing manager and former fighter said all he is asking from Games and Amusements Board chairman Eric Buhain is for "our contract to be honored."
IBF Championship Committee chairman Lindsey Tucker informed Viva Sports that promoter Adrulfo Castillo of ECO Promotions submitted a purse bid of over $60,000 to stage the mandatory title defense of Condes (22-3-1, 20 KO?s) against undefeated challenger Raul Rayito? Garcia (22-0-1, 15 KO?s) on June 14 in Laz Paz, Mexico. Condes will earn over $50,000 as a result of the 75-25 split under IBF rules. Tucker branded the purse offer as ?very generous.?
Condes? purse was substantial compared to the measly $3,000 he ultimately received for his title fight against then champion Muhammad Rachman of Indonesia in Jakarta last July 7. Garcia earned the right to face Condes after he defeated Ronald Barrera (22-3-1, 14 KO?s) of Colombia in a title eliminator last February 29.
The title eliminator was ordered by the IBF after Condes defense against Garcia set for February 16 in the hometown of the Mexican was postponed when Condes suffered a severe wrist injury and a problem with his lower left back. Because of the delay, the IBF ordered an eliminator between Garcia and Barrera which Garcia won handily.
