
Arquero, Talaboc power Cosbusters past Chessmis TV in PCL rapid chess tilt

MANILA---Kevin Arquero and Freddie Talaboc powered the Cosbusters Philippines Corp. Chess Team to a 107-93 victory over a Anatoly Pascua-led Chessmis TV Chess Team in the Rapid time control Philippine Chess League (PCL) Season 2 online chess tournament Friday night, March 18 virtually held at Lichess Platform.
Arquero, a member of the multi-titled Philippine Army chess team, tallied 14 points while Talaboc, a former mainstay of San Beda chess team contributed 11 points.
Nezil Arj Merilles, Vladimir Gonzales and Francis Talaboc added 9 markers each.
Also delivering for the Cosbusters were Jones Maghuyop (8 pts.), Richie Jocson (8 pts.), Jezreel Lopez (8 pts.), Adrian Esteva (7 pts.), Engr.Bren Sasot (6 pts.), Ervil Villa (5 pts.), Roumundo Edades Jr. (5 pts.) and Abdelmunim Hassan (2 pts.).
Keith Adriane Ilar and Yosef Immanuel Tanguilan Morada chipped in 4 and 3 markers in the kiddies event.
Pascua, meantime is the top scorer of Chessmis TV Chess Team with 12 points while Nazario Ubanan finished the game with 11 points.
Other members of the team were John Chua (8 pts.), Junmark Baldesimo (8 pts.), Arian Belly Calido (7 pts.), playing coach Jimmy Dano (7 pts.), Apollo Agapay (7 pts.), Lexis Bruce Portacion (6 pts.), Kharl Manliguez (6 pts.), Roberto Pablito Salomon Jr. (6 pts.) and Michael Tinga (5 pts.).
Christian Mendoza (4 pts.) is the kiddy player while Ma.Arlene Antiquina Ablin (4 pts.) is the female representative.
Cosbusters Philippines Corp. Chess Team needed to beat defending champion Chessmis TV Chess Team in the Fischer random chess, also known as Chess960 on Sunday to secure the title according to Philippine God Father Billy Joe Ereno.
