
Delos Santos leads Cabuyao Team A in 3rd Laguna Inter-Town Chess Team Championships

MANILA---Tyrone delos Santos will spearhead the Cabuyao City Team A competing in the Gov. Ramil L. Hernandez Cup 3rd Laguna Inter-Town Chess Team Championships at the Laguna Sports Complex Basketball Gymnasium, Bubukal, Sta. Cruz, Laguna on March 13, 2022.
This was announced yesterday by Arena Grandmaster Dr. Fred Paez, top honcho of Cabuyao City Team A.
"The Cabuyao City Team A backed up by Mayor (Mel) Gecolea is fielding talent-laden team to the 3rd Laguna Inter-Town Chess Team Championships," said Paez.
"Tyrone will surely be one of the players to watch, but the rest of our players are just as talented and capable of making Cabuyao City proud," Paez added. "Let's just hope they will play well and continue to bring honors to Cabuyao City."
Joining Delos Santos in the team are Vince Angelo Medina, Apollo Agapay and Alfredo Rapanot.
Los Banos will draw power from International Master Michael Concio Jr. while Sta. Cruz will lean on Emil Colindres in their bid for the P10,000 top purse.
Other members of the Los Banos chess team are Michella Concio, Aries Fernandez and Ramil Limpiada. Completing the Sta. Cruz chess squad are Raffy Oliveros, Vincent de Leon and Ernesto Lameseria.
Also seeing action are Bay, Calamba, Santa Rosa and San Pablo.
Cabuyao City Junior Team, meantime composed of Jeremy Marticio, Jersey Marticio, Rey Julius Taguba and Webster Lagera is raring to go in the juniors division which offers P8,000 to the winning team.
Meanwhile, the 1st Laguna Chess King and Queen Challenge gets underway on March 20, 22 at the same venue.
