
The Vladimir Gonzales-Costbusters Philippines Corp. Chess team wins PCL Season 2 - Ep.9 team battle tilt

MANILA---The Costbusters Philippines Corp. Chess team (150 points) edged the competition for a runaway victory in the rapid chess event Philippine Chess League (PCL) Season 2 - Episode 9 Team Battle last Feb. 28, 2022 virtually held at Lichess Platform.
Playing for Costbusters Philippines Corp. Chess team under the watchful eye of team owner Billy Joe Ereno were Vladimir Gonzales (22 points), Freddie Talaboc (18 points), Kevin Arquero (17 points), Nezil Merilles (16 points), Carl Zirex Sato (16 points), Michael Pinar (15 points), Fern Falle (13 points), Richie Jocson (12 points), Francis Talaboc (11 points) and Bren Sasot (10 points).
The PFCC Chess Team (126 points), meantime placed second, composed of Theseus Benitez (20 points), Michael Metrio (18 points), Nelson Busa (17 points), Patrick Credo (16 points), Andres Bautista (14 points), Ricardo Jimenez (10 points), Gresalje Saldo (10 points), HD Villanueva (8 points) and Warren Cruz (8 points).
Running third was the Surigao Diamond Portrait Knight Chess Team (123 points) headed by John Ranel Morazo (18 points), Alfredo Rapanot (18 points), Rodney Opada (14 points), Sandro Ladion (12 points), Wil Maghanoy (11 points), Francis Joseph Kaamino (10 points), playing-team owner Rey Urbiztondo (9 points), playing-team captain Atty. Cliburn Anthony Orbe (8 points) and Atty. Melzar Galicia (7 points).
Meanwhile, the San Miguel Chess Association Team came in fourth with 121 points, followed by the Malolos City Chess Club with 109 points for fifth place.
Rounding up the Top 10 finishers were the ZamboChess Archos (105 points), Bicol Chess Players' Advocates (105 points), Chessmis TV Chess Team (100 points), Pwede Pa Kami Group Chess Club (85 points) and SSS Chess Club (82 points).
The PCL headed by Founding Chairman NA Ringo Villagonzallo, President NA Cesar Calopez, 1st Vice President NA Dioniver "Bobot" Medrano, 2nd Vice President Engr.Rey Urbiztondo and Tournament Director Engr. Joel Hicap.-Marlon Bernardino-
