IBF Championship Committee chairman Lindsey Tucker says the purse bid of promoter Adrulfo Castillo of ECO Promotions of over $60,000 to stage the first title defense of minimum weight champion Florante Condes (22-3-1, 20 KO?s) against undefeated mandatory challenger Raul Rayito? Garcia (22-0-1, 15 KO?s) on June 14 in Laz Paz, Mexico was ?very generous of him.?
Tucker disclosed that since Castillo was ?the only bidder, he could have bid the Minimum of $25,000? but he didn?t which guarantees Condes who gets 75 percent at least $50,000. In fact, when Condes fought for the title he received the paltry amount of some $3,000.
Garcia earned the right to face Condes after he defeated Ronald Barrera (22-3-1, 14 KO?s) of Colombia in a title eliminator last February 29.
The title eliminator was ordered by the IBF after Condes defense against Garcia set for February 16 in the hometown of the Mexican was postponed when Condes suffered a severe wrist injury and a problem with his lower left back. Because of the delay, the IBF ordered an eliminator between Garcia and Barrera which Garcia won handily.
Well-known promoter and boxing manager Sammy Gello-ani who worked closely with internationally respected matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz to make the fight happen revealed that Condes would fly to Cebu City next week to step up training for his title defense which will be his first since winning the title from Indonesia?s Muhammad Rachman on July 7, 2007 in Jakarta.
Meantime former boxer and now manager Aljoe Jaro whose wife Alice is the GAB recognized manager of Condes claimed that promoter Bobby Bostick who had signed up as the promoter of the Filipino with Dante Ortiz who had in turn signed a co-manager?s contract with Aljoe Jaro is reportedly arriving in Manila on April 24 along with Indonesian promoter Fandy Sugiarto to discuss the Condes situation.
