NM Cu wins Janelle Margarette Open II bullet online chess tilt

MANILA---National Master Ivan Travis Cu won the Janelle Margarette Open II bullet (two minutes plus one second increment) online chess tournament virtually held at Lichess Platform last February 3, 2022.

The 12-year old Cu, a Grade 7 pupil of Xavier School in San Juan City collected 11 points on ten wins, two draws and one loss to win the thirteen-round tournament.

Cu scored victories over Epifanio Bueno Jr. in the first round, Renevic Verbo in the second round, Eljon Balala in the third round, Richie Jocson in the fourth round, Robert Cacho in the fifth round, Tristan Cervero in the seventh round, Victor Anas in the ninth round, Jordaine Tupaz in the tenth round, Harison Maamo in the eleventh round and Syrel June Coleta in the thirteen round.

He split the point with Junmark Baldesimo in the sixth round and National Master Robert Arellano in the twelve round. His only loss at the hands of Jomarie Monteza in the eight round.-Marlon Bernardino-
