IM Garcia to defend title in Kamatyas Rapid Invitational Chess

MANILA---International Master Jan Emmanuel Garcia will defend his title at the Kamatyas Rapid Invitational Chess Championship on February 19 at the MultiSys Headquarters Multinational Village in Paranaque City featuring a Grand Master, GM-elect and International Master.
International Master Joel Banawa is seeing action along with last year’s runner-up Grandmaster candidate and International Master Ronald Dableo, 13-time Philippine Open Champion Grandmaster Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr., Grandmaster Darwin Laylo, International Master Daniel Quizon, International Master Paulo Bersamina, International Master Ricardo de Guzman, International Master Angelo Young, International Master Chito Garma, International Master Barlo Nadera, International Master Michael Concio Jr., International Master Richelieu Salcedo III and Woman International Master Kylen Joy Mordido.
The 9-round Swiss System tournament, organized by International Master Roderick Nava of Kamatyas Chess Club and backed up by Founder and CEO of software engineering solutions provider Multisys Technologies Corp. David Almirol Jr., dangles a top purse of P30,000.
Other woodpushers vying in the event are Fide Master Robert Suelo, Fide Master Roel Abelgas, Fide Master David Elorta, National Master Mark Jay Bacojo, National Master Robert Arellano, National Master Edmundo Gatus, National Master Edgardo Garma and Woman National Master Jerlyn Mae Sa Diego.
"1st 30 Titled players who confirmed their participations will have their Professional Fee of 2500 for NM, FM and IM and 5000 for GM Men and Women," said International Master Roderick Nava ng Kamatyas Chess Club. -Marlon Bernardino
