Arca, Sali face tough competition in the Mark John Centillo FIDE Rated Standard Round Robin Tournament

MANILA---National Master Christian Gian Karlo Arca and National Master Zulfikar Sali expect rough sailing in the Mark John Centillo FIDE Rated Standard Round Robin Tournament where they will be meeting a tough line of competitors on January 22, 23 and 24, 2022 at EBON Restaurant in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.
Arca and Sali are considered the favorites to rule the said over the board chess tournament.

The 12-year-old Arca, a Grade 7 - STE Universe of Panabo City National High School Student won numerous over the board and online tournaments while the pride of Zamboanga City Sali, a registered Nurse in Victoria, British Columbia is a Canadian Chess Champion.

Also competing in the tournament are National Master Dale Bernardo, Joselito Dormitorio, Ferdinand Leysa, Michael Elloso, Chrisus Joseph S. Sarchez, Dillon Intila, Julius Silvederio and Allen Mirano.

The three-day standard time control format, backed by Mr. Mark John Centillo, Czen Coin, Czen Corporation and Gmci Hardware, offers P3,000 + 30,000 Czen Coin to the champion.

The second placer will get P2,000 + 20,000 Czen Coin while the third placer will bring home P1,000 + 10,000 Czen Coin.
Fourth to Fifth will earn 10,000 Czen Coin and 5,000 Czen Coin, respectively. The sixth to tenth-placer will settle for 3,000 Czen Coin.
"A Ten thousand peso prize fund with free registration and free meals is at stake which attracted 10 players from as far as Manila, Zamboanga, Davao and North Cotabato to play in a round robin format with local champions from South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Sarrangani Provinces," said Chief Arbiter NA Mark John Centillo IO.
"We do this to promote chess in the grass roots level and to discover future chess talents from Mindanao," added Deputy Chief Arbiter WFA Margie Cobrado Narcilla.-Marlon Bernardino-
