Dableo, grandmasters to pit brains in Estancia Mall chess tournament

MANILA---ALL eyes will be on International Master Ronald Dableo in the Hon. Sen. Manny Pacquiao Over the Board Open chess tournament on January 7, 2022, 10am at Estancia Mall in Pasig City.

Dableo, who is fresh from winning the Pamaskong Handog GM Rosendo Carreon Balinas Jr. online chess tournament last December 23, 2021, is looking to snatch his first title at the start of the year 2022.

Dableo, one of the top players of the Philippine Army Chess Team and coach of University of Santo Tomas Chess Team, will be facing strong challenge from the country’s best woodpushers including GM Rogelio Antonio, Jr., GM Darwin Laylo, IM Ricardo de Guzman, IM Angelo Young, IM Barlo Nadera, IM Chito Garma, IM Chris Ramayrat Jr. and FM Alekhine Nouri, among others.

The champion will earn P7,000 plus a trophy. The second placer will get P5,000 plus a trophy, third placer will receive P4,000 plus a trophy, fourth placer will bring home P3,000 plus a medal while the fifth placer will pocket P2,000 plus a trophy.
Sixth to 12th placers will go home P1,000 each plus a medals.
The top three (3) kiddies, junior, lady and senior will take P1,500, P1,000 and P500, respectively plus a medals.
"Entry fee P200 with free lunch and t shirts, no-onsite registration, only vaccinated chess players can join and limited 150 players only first come first in."said tournament organizer Mr. Jun Panopio.

"All players and guests need to download the Pasig Pass @ pasigpass.pasigcity.gov.ph. No Pasig Pass No Entry to the mall," he added.
