Handling the white pieces, Quizon beat Grandmaster Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr. in the fifth round to improve his score to a total of 5 points to remain on top in this 12-player-field, single-round tournament organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP).

International Master Ricardo de Guzman split the point with International Master Jan Emmanuel Garcia to climb at no.2 spot with 4 points.

Garcia, on the other hand, raised his total 3 points, the same output of International Master Paulo Bersamina and International Master Ronald Dableo.

Bersamina halved the point with International Master Joel Pimentel while Dableo toppled Allan Pason.

In other results, Grandmaster Darwin Laylo subdued Woman Grandmaster Janelle Mae Frayna while International Master John Marvin Miciano drew with International Master Michael Concio Jr.
Earlier, Quizon trounced Frayna in the fourth round.
