Pacman, GenSan to host chess meet

MANILA---THE finest and brightest woodpushers will display their wares anew starting Dec. 16 when the Hon. Senator Emmanuel "Manny" Dapidran Pacquiao Chess Tournament gets going at the Robinsons Place in General Santos City.

Sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines and sponsored by Hon. Senator Emmanuel "Manny" Dapidran Pacquiao, the 2 day over the board chess tournament, spread until Dec. 17, will see no less than local hero Elias Banguiran, Julius Silvederio and Ferdinand Leysa.

Sen. Pacquiao will celebrate his 43rd birthday on Dec. 17.
Players from Davao City headed by multiple gold medalist Para athlete National Master Henry Roger Lopez, National Master Alexander Lupian, National Master Allan Macala, Jayson Salubre, Jimmy Dano, Carl Zirex Sato and Harrison Maamo are playing also Nazario Ubanan of Cagayan de Oro City.

The winner of tatluhan event will be awarded P30,000, while the individual competition victors will be awarded P10,000.

“Chess enthusiasts and Robinsons mall-goers have this opportunity to watch the game of professional woodpushers live in action, see multi-awarded players, and get to know the next generation of athletes who are making a name in the world of chess,” said tournament organizers Orly Ortega and Diovic Nalam of Pacman Chess Association.
