MANILA---Christian Gian Karlo Tade-Arca, the country’s youngest Arena Grandmaster (AGM), conquered the 2021 Dr. Marlonsky Youth Chess Fest Grand Finals held via Tornelo Platform with the supervision of NCFP arbiter last Saturday, Nov. 27.
The 12-year-old pride of Panabo City, Davao Del Norte racked up 7 points on account of 7 wins and 2 loses to beat the 9 other young woodpushers who joined this single round robin event backed up by Dr. Marlon Lepiten Sayson Jr. supported by tournament director Irwin Aton and Chief Arbiter NA Cecilio Acas.
“It’s hard to explain what I’m feeling right now. Winning the 2021 Dr. Marlonsky Youth Chess Fest Grand Finals held via tornelo online chess tournament meant so much to me,” said Arca, a Grade 7 STE Section of Panabo City National High School whose local and international campaign is supported by Atty. Jong Guevarra and Fide Senior Trainer/International Arbiter James Infiesto.
“I’m really happy,” added Arca who is also a certified National Master (NM) who won this online tilt that had a time control format of 3 minutes plus two seconds increment.
Arca scored victories over John Curt Valencia in the first round, Christian Tolosa in the second round, Cyrus Vladimir Francisco in the third round, Ivan Travis Cu in the fifth round, Fern Albert Falle in the sixth round, Keith Adriane Ilar in the eight round and Oshrie Jhames Reyes in the ninth and final round.
He was yielded to Adrian Joy Singson in the fourth round and Christian Mendoza in the seventh round.
Father/ Coach Police Lieutenant (PLT) Arman Arca had something to say to his son. "Masaya ako para sa achievement niya na eto dahil ang daming malalakas na kasali sa 10 Grand Finalists. Naniniwala ako na bigay ng Diyos ang pagiging Champion niya sa Dr. Marlonsky. Sana pagbutihan pa niya ang mga susunod niyang laban sa chess habang patuloy na naka-balanse ang time niya sa kanyang pag aaral." -Marlon Bernardino-
