The International Boxing Federation, IBF, has scheduled a Purse Bid for IBF champion Florante Condes? mandatory title defense against Raul ?Rayito? Garcia of Mexico for April 8.

IBF Championship Committee chairman Lindsey Tucker informed Viva Sports/Manila Standard that letters regarding the purse offer had been sent out to all registered promoters last March 27. He said ?any IBF registered promoter who has paid the annual registration fee 30 days prior to April 6, 2008 can bid.?

Tucker disclosed that the minimum bid is $25,000 with the champion Condes getting 75 percent of whatever the amount of the Purse Bid is and Garcia 25 percent. This means that should a promoter win with a minimum bid of $25,000 the Filipino world champion would receive $18,750 while the Mexican challenger who is ranked No.1 would receive $6,250.

Earlier, Condes had been offered $50,000 to defend his title against Garcia in his hometown of La Paz last February 16 but a tug-of-war over his contract and a severely sprained right wrist plus a strain in the left upper back scuttled the title fight. Instead, the IBF ordered an eliminator in which Garcia defeated Ronald "El Indio" Barrera of Colombia by a lopsided unanimous twelve round decision to earn the mandatory title shot last February 29 in La Paz, Mexico..
.
The mandatory title defense of Condes had earlier been set on or before April 7, 2008 but because of the champion?s injuries and the IBF medical extension the new deadline for the mandatory defense was May 7. However, no new date has been confirmed pending the results of the Purse Bid.

The aunt of Condes, Loy Valencia disclosed that the lawyer of Condes, Atty. Edgar Padernal had advised them to abide by the decisions of the IBF and go ahead with the title defense if the world organization names the winning promoter.

Meantime Ms. Valencia revealed that promoter Bobby Bostick had used a certain Hispanic Nelson Lopez who is reportedly married to a Filipina to call her husband Larry Valencia, stating that Bostick plans to promote a Condes title defense in the Philippines and would visit Manila. However, it was noted that Bostick had made several such promises before and nothing materialized.

Condes who has a record of 22-3-1 with 20 knockouts and is known as ?The Little Manny Pacquiao? because of his style and punching power hasn?t fought since winning the title from Indonesia?s Muhammad Rachman by a split decision last July 7 in Jakarta. The undefeated Garcia, on the other hand , is coming off an impressive win in the title eliminator against Barrera last February 29. Garcia has a record of 22-0 with 15 knockouts.
