Filipino Roberto Lerio has been knocked out in the third round by undefeated Daniel Iannazzo in a super bantamweight bout while welterweight Jun Paderna was involved in majority draw against Heath Ellis in a fight card in Melbourne.

Iannazzo improved to 6-0 with his knockout win over Lerio who is handled by former WBC International super bantamweight challenger Todd Makelin who once fought Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao. It was Iannazzo's first KO win while Lerio dropped to 5-6 with 2 knockouts to his name. Iannazzo dropped Lerio in round one with a solid left hook and nailed him for good with another vicious left hook in round three.

The 25 year old Paderna was unlucky not to win his bout with two judges, Con Theodorou scoring it an even 57-57 and Henry Nissen turning in an even 59-59 scorecard. However, the third judge Wayne Ashdown inexplicably saw Ellis the winner by a wide 59-55 margin giving Paderna only one round.

Boxing writer Ray Wheatley reported that the Paderna-Ellis bout was a crowd pleaser even though Ellis suffered a broken jaw in the first round of their six round battle.

With the loss Paderna dropped to 9-9-2 with 4 knockouts while Ellis improved to 7-1-1 with 4 knockouts. In his last fight on December 7, 2007 Ellis lost a majority eight round decision to another Sydney-based Filipino, Junmar Dulog.
