
GM Joey Antonio to play in the Mariz Manalo open online chess tilt

MANILA---Grandmaster (GM) Rogelio “Joey” Madrigal Antonio Jr. is set to compete in the Mariz Manalo Open Chess Championships, which begins on Sunday, October 17, 2021, 10 pm at Lichess.org Platform.
It shall be recalled that Antonio, 13-time Philippine Open champion, bagged the runner-up trophy in the 27th World Senior Chess Championship 2017 (50+) held in Acqui Terme, Italy in 2017.
Also seeing action this weekend are International Master Angelo Young, International Master Emmanuel Senador, International Master Barlo Nadera, International Master Chris Ramayrat Jr., International Master Michael Concio, Fide Master Alekhine Nouri, Fide Master Roel Abelgas, Fide Master Nelson "Elo" Mariano III, National Master Carlos, Edgardo Garma, National Master Levi Mercado, National Master Merben Roque, National Master Elwin Retanal, National Master Noel dela Cruz, National Master Cesar Mariano, National Master Jake dela Cruz and National Master Kim Kenneth Santos.
The one day event, organized by Bayanihan Chess Club and supported by Mariz Manalo of 1st district of Mandaluyong, niece of International Billiards and Snooker champion Marlon Manalo, offers total pot prizes P5,000 to the winners.-Marlon Bernardino-
