Suelo beats Young

CAINTA, Rizal---Fide Master Robert Suelo Jr. defeated International Master Angelo Young, 7-3, to win the Grandmaster Rosendo Carreon Balinas Jr. chess challenge dubbed as Bayanihan Chess Club match up series, Chess For a Cause held at Goldland Chess Club, Village East in Cainta, Rizal on Thursday, September 30, 2021.
Suelo took a 2-0 commanding lead in the 3 minutes plus 2 seconds increment, race to 7, draws not counted format, face to face, over the board chess tournament hosted by Dr. Joe Balinas and Engr. Antonio "Uncle Paps" Balinas in close cooperation with Goldland chess club.
After Young won 3rd game, Suelo scored back to back wins to seized 3-1 lead. After exchanging score, Suelo got the upper hand, 5-2, until Young came closer at 5-3 count. However, Suelo never looked back by winning the last 2 games.
Meanwhile, Eric Labog Jr. topped the Al Basher "Basty" Buto chess cup.-Marlon Bernardino-
