Mr. & Mrs. Babin Smith silver wedding anniversary Cup

MANILA, Philippines---The 4th edition of Babin Smith Cup will be held on September 18, 2021 10pm (PST), 8 am (MT). It will coincide with the 25th wedding anniversary of Alvin Guevarra & Riza Celajes. Alvin or Babin was a former member of the Multi-titled Far Eastern University Chess Team in the UAAP under the legendary coach GM Jayson Gonzales and former FEU Stalwart IM Yves Ranola. Ms. Riza Celajes-Guevarra is currently an Out of School Care director in Alberta, Canada, she was a Guidance Counsellor at New Era University. The couple are now residing in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
This chess event is a team battle wherein 4 members will compose each team. Among the invited players are, NM Zulfikar Sali of BC, Canada, IM Angelo Young, USNM Marlon Bernardino, NM Ronald Llavanes, and Babin’s former FEU team mate USNM Ranier Labay, Leo Penaredondo, Ritchie Evangelista, Gilo Estrella, Christopher Megino and some invited masters.
This tourney will also be supported by Ms. Rhoda Celajes-Frei, & Abegail Guevarra-Gamet of Anchorage, Alaska, Ms. Liza Cocran & Barry Dorner of Phoenix, AZ, Mr. Ruel Moldera of Buah Merah Corporation and NM Zulfikar Sali.-Marlon Bernardino-
