THE Philippines’ youngest National Master (NM) Oshrie Jhames “OJ” Constantino Reyes hopes to improve his world ranking aside from bringing more honors for the country.
Fondly called OJ in the chess world, he will see action at the Eastern Asia Youth chess championship slated from October 1-3, 2021.
The 10 years old Reyes, a grade 5 student of EZEE, Guagua, Pampanga, earned the title of National Master (NM) after winning the 2021 National Age Group Hybrid Chess Championships Grandfinals Under-10 division held online via the Tornelo platform from June 26 to June 29, 2021.
OJ is also scheduled to play in the Pampanga Checkers when the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) chess league gets underway on September 15, 2021.
OJ is also fresh from third place finish in the Eastern Asia Youth selection last September 12, 2021.
"Congrats kuya Oshrie Jhames Constantino Reyes. You made it to be qualified in the upcoming Eastern Asia Youth Chess championship. Another opportunity to battle for the country," said Jubail Kingdom of Saudi Arabia based Jaime "Jimmy" Reyes, father and coach of OJ.-Marlon Bernardino-
