MANILA, Philippines--- Arena Grand Master Joseph HajiYusuf Riano Villanueva Galindo captured the 1st championship crown of Romblon Chess Club September Grand Prix - 16 last September 5, 2021, which was held at lichess platform. AGM Galindo scores 9.5 points, with 8 wins and 3 draws in 11 rounds.
Rounding up the top 10 are National Master Jasper Faeldonia, 2nd; Dr. Jenny Mayor 3rd; Bryan Blair Fallarme, 4th; and Nepthali Bantang 5th; Christian Ygerr Servanez 6th, Engr. Ernie Faeldonia 7th; Jemaicah Yap Mendoza, 8th; Carlito Faina Jr. 9th; Meliton Yu, 10th.
The September Grand Prix was sponsored by Mayor Dental Clinic, Mr. John Paul Canulo, Engr. Ernie Faeldonia, DepEd Teacher Mr. Jerry Morada Jr., DILG MLGOO- Carlito Faina Jr., Mr. Orly Jon Pascual, AGM/Engr. Joseph Galindo, and Engr. Aurel Haber
Meanwhile, Neph Bantang still leads the Overall Grand Prix standing with 420 GP points, he was followed by Dr. Jenny Mayor with 403 points, and NM Jasper Faeldonia at 3rd with 380 points.
Grand Finals is to be played on December 2021 on a knock out system format, where the top 1 to 16 will play against 17 to 32 in the 1st elimination, 1 to 8 vs 9 to 16 in the 2nd elimination, 1 to 4 vs 5 to 8 in the quarter-finals, 1 & 2 vs 3 & 4 in the semi-finals and the two winners will face in the championship round.
