
Regidor, Marticio, Paez lead entries in Nat'l Rapid chess tilt

MANILA, Philippines---Woman National Master (WNM) Kaye Lalaine Regidor of Santa Rosa City, Laguna, Woman National Master Jersey Marticio and Woman Candidate Master Alexandra Sydney Paez of Cabuyao City, Laguna will lead the early entries in their respective divisions in the 4th annual Chooks-to-Go National Rapid Chess Championships Juniors and Kiddies (Boys and Girls) division which unreels on July 10, 2021, 2pm Manila Time at Tornelo Platform.
The 12-year-old Regidor, a Grade 6 student of Rizal Dila Elementary School Santa Rosa City, Laguna is the champion in the Under 12-Girls 2021 Hybrid National Age Group Chess Championships Grandfinals. She tallied perfect 11 points.
The 14-year-old Marticio, on the other hand, an Incoming Grade 9 student of Pulo National High School, Cabuyao City, Laguna won twice 2nd place in the 2021 Hybrid National Youth & School Chess Championships (Under 14 and Under 15 Girls).
The 17-year-old Paez, an online Arena International Master, a Grade 12 student of Malayan College of Laguna is fresh from a runner-up finish in the 2021 Hybrid National Youth & School Chess Championships (Under 18 - Girls) last June 22 to 29, 2021.
The National Chess Federation of the Philippines has conferred the Woman National Master and Woman Candidate Master Title to Regidor, Marticio and Paez respectively.
Other early entries for the kiddies category include Yanie Ayesha Estavillo, Ma. Sophia Achaoso, Jewelle Iris Anacio, Jeanne Marie Arcinue, Faith Argenal, Cecille Bagalanon and Ryien Bahita.
Early junior registrants are Alysah, Mickayla and Rohanisah Buto, Jelaine Adriano, Sofia Angelique Alcala, Chelsie Angeli Amir, Patricia Illeja Bernardo, Reycel Bodoso, Shaira Capinpin and Geraldine Mae Camarines.
"The event is the biggest national online chess event in the country. This is indeed a big help for the promotion of chess. I would like to really thank my good friend, BAVI President Ronald Daniel Mascarinas for annually sponsoring this event" according to Transforming President of the Rotary Club of Nuvali Sam Balboa.
"Exciting times ahead for Philippine chess. The proceeds of this event will go to the charity projects of the Rotary Club of Nuvali," added online Arena Grandmaster Dr. Fred Paez.
The event is organized by the Rotary Club of Nuvali and Philippine Executive Chess Association, backed up by BAVI President Ronald Daniel Mascarinas and sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines. -Marlon Bernardino-
