Respected nutritionist Dra. Sanirose Orbeta has cautioned Filipino boxing icon and national treasure Manny Pacquiao about his weight at fight time in his eagerly-awaited rematch with WBC super featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez.

A concerned Dra. Orbeta called WBC founding secretary general Rudy Salud, himself a staunch supporter of Pacquiao, following reports from the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles saying that Pacquiao would bulk up to 144 pounds when he enters the ring after making the 130 pound limit at the official weigh-in on Saturday, Manila Time.

The nutritionist who worked wonders with WBO champion Gerry Penalosa who ate almost everything he wished but in a balanced nutritional formula and was still able to maintain his weight comfortably, said Pacquiao should increase his weight to a maximum of 140 pounds when he enters the ring.

Salud quoted Dra. Orbeta as cautioning that an extra four pounds ?will be a heavy burden and could only be burned out after around six rounds of the fight? which meant that it would slow down and hamper Pacquiao in the early rounds.

She also told Salud that reports of Pacquiao sweating buckets during training meant his pores were enlarged and he would dehydrate fairly quickly. She reportedly suggested that after the weigh-in Pacquiao places small amounts of salt on his tongue fairly regularly while also taking some patis or toyo with his meals. She said this would help Pacquiao re-hydrate faster.

Salud requested Viva Sports/Manila Standard to contact Pacquiao?s handlers and convey the advice of Dra. Orbeta. This reporter contacted Pcquiao?s close friend and confidant Rex ?Wakee? Salud by overseas telephone and he said he would relay the information to Pacquiao and trainer Freddie Roach.

Salud said he would try to work out a call between Pacquiao and Dra. Orbeta, Rudy Salud or this reporter regarding the advice of the nutriotionist.
