Confident in his youth (24 age), Olympic experience and the 13-year age difference against Kovalev are the most significant reasons to trust in a win against the experienced former World champion Sergey Kovalev.

Bektemir Melikuziev is barely in professional boxing in 2019 and in a year and a half, Bektemir has 6 wins (5KOs) and in 2020 he was able to make two fights while Kovalev comes from being defeated by Canelo in 2019.

Melikuziev became the champion of Uzbekistan at the age of 18, is a silver medalist in the World Championship and in the 2016 Olympics in a final he lost to Cuban Arlen López, a more experienced four-time world champion.

In his last fight on October 30 he defeated Mexican Alan Campa, knocking him down three times before the fight was stopped in the third round and on February 14, Melikuziev dropped Oscar Cortés twice to win by first round knockout.

Melikuziev, is promoted by Golden Boy and directed by Vadim Kornilov, is trained by Joel Diaz.
