Canelo Alvarez.

This Friday the boxing world has been surprised by the announcement of the Mexican sports star, Canelo Álvarez, informing his separation from Golden Boy Promotions and that he is now a free agent. Canelo has an 11-fight, $365 million agreement with DAZN since October 2018, a Golden Boy deal, but Canelo has only fought 3 times during that time.

Canelo long ago filed a $280 million lawsuit against Golden Boy, Oscar, and DAZN in the United States for not being able to return to the ring and continue his professional boxing career.

Sources have already confirmed that Golden Boy Promotions and Team Canelo have long been at odds for months and the relationship was seriously damaged with little chance of returning to the state since its inception.

Eddy Reynoso has publicly confirmed that Canelo Alvarez is now a free agent and is working to prepare for his next fight that some indicate would be on December 19 or before the end of the year.

"As of today, November 6, 'Canelo' becomes a free agent, so we are ready to continue his career in boxing. Soon we will inform about the date, rival and place very soon, and we will come back stronger than ever to continue growing and showing that Mexican boxing and Canelo are the best, "Reynoso said.

Sources indicate that it is almost a fact that Golden Boy and DAZN have formally released Canelo from his contract, after many days of difficult negotiations seeking to save the relationship.
