Second Overtime: Sean "The Mechanic" Gibbons whips another work of art

Sean Gibbons, the president of Manny Pacquiao Promotions inked Mark "Magnifico" Magsayo to a contract yesterday, further fortifying what already is an impressive stable currently populated by reigning world champions Jerwin Ancajas and John Riel Casimero, to name a few.
Gibbons, an affable American from Las Vegas by way of Oklahoma, is not the type of sleazy mechanic who will rob people two-fisted with ghost services and malfunctioning spare parts.
This mechanic is world-class. Sugar and spice and everything nice. All his transactions are above-board, which is an anomaly in the dirty world of professional boxing.
"Lipay kaayo ko ni Sean, sir (I'm so happy with Sean), " Magsayo told me over the phone a few hours ago from his home in Pasig.
"I've heard a lot of good things about him," added the 24-year old pug from Tagbilaran city, Bohol, who is also grateful to Senator Pacquiao for giving him the opportunity of a lifetime.
And this is precisely the reason why you'll never find a soul who doesn't like Sean Gibbons. Even if you scour the universe twice.
I've interviewed a lot of MP fighters handled by Gibbons and the love is unanimous.

Gibbons, they say, not only provides a fat purse, he also puts them in an advantageous position to succeed by providing all the necessary resource for championship-caliber training camp.
What's not to like?
Soon enough, Magsayo will see and feel what its like to get the Gibbons treatment.
Magsayo and his family, which includes wife Frances and a young son, will relocate to Los Angeles, California next week to begin training at the Wild Card gym under the watchful eyes of legendary trainer Freddie Roach.
Previously, Magsayo was a free agent embroiled in a contractual dispute with the famed ALA stable in Cebu City. But that's all in the past now, a fading and distant memory.
"I un-complicated it," Gibbons said of the mess that had wrapped Magsayo for the better part of over two years. "Clean and fresh as a newborn baby," Gibbons described Mark's career reboot.
The 15-month layoff and the sparse two fights that he tangled in last year suggest that Magsayo has a lot of ground to cover. But trust Gibbons to make the former No.1 WBC featherweight contender to be busy as a queen bee in 2020.
Magsayo is the No.4 ranked featherweight in the IBF. He is No.5 in the WBC rankings and No.11 in the WBA.
Under Gibbons, though, the possibilities are endless.
