Indonesia?s WBA featherweight champion Chris John who has been calling out Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao has scored what was described as an effortless seventh round stoppage of Panama?s Roinet Caballero at the Senyan sports complex in Jakarta which was telecast "live" on RCTI.

One of the spectators at ringside was well-known Filipino boxing manager and promoter Sammy Gello-ani.

The undefeated 28 year old John who has a record of 40-0-1 with 22 knockouts dominated the fight much of the wayl and battered 24 year old Caballero who fell to 22-8-1 with 6 knockouts in brutal fashion in rounds six and seven forcing his corner to throw in the towel. Referee Raul Caiz Jr had no choice but to end the one-sided bout which officially ended at the 3:00 minute mark.

John who defeated reigning WBC super featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez in a lopsided twelve round decision to win the WBA title on March 4, 2006 said he would love to fight Pacquiao except that should Pacquiao defeat Marquez in their rematch in Las Vegas on March 15, he is likely to move up to lightweight to battle WBC champion David Diaz possibly in Macau.

At the official weigh-in prior to the fight there was some controversy when ring physician Dr. Jimmy Tambunan said he hadn?t received a blood sample from Caballero to show that he was HIV-AIDS negative which was a requirement.

Matheos Viktor Messakh of The Jakarta Post reported that the doctor revealed he had only received a letter from the Ambassador of Panama guaranteeing that Cabalerro was free of HIV-AIDS and other contagious diseases. The Indonesian doctor noted that the Ambassador "was not a doctor and did not state anything about a blood test in Panama."

However, referee Raul Caiz Jr said ?the blood test was taken in Panama and the certificate was given on Thursday to the doctors so it is in their possession.? Dr. Tambunan told The Jakarta Post reporter ?anyway, the WBA supervisor (Yangsup Shim of South Korea ) had no objections, so the fight must go on.?

At the weigh in held at the Sultan Hotel in Jakarta, John both fighters were well below the 126 pound featherweight limit. Promoter Zaenal Tayeb revealed that John?s purse was $215,000 while the challenger was to receive around $70,000.
