MAASIN CITY AMATEUR BOXERS WIN OVER FOES

Maasin City amateur boxers came out triumphant in their respective bouts against visitors last Tuesday at the Maasin City Gym. The amateur fights were added features to the professional bouts which saw hometown hero Adones Aguelo stopping Jimmy Borbon of Roxas City, Capiz.

Romie Evale won by unanimous decision over Jeamar Pepito of Cebu City in the 56 kg. Elite category.

In the same category at 53 kg., Rey Ragas was declared winner on points over Pablo Rafael of Tomas Oppus, Southern Leyte when the referee stopped the bout in the first round due to an injury incurred by an accidental head butt.

Jhayvee Donaire halted Jessie Pelaes of Tomas Oppus when the referee stopped contest in the very first round in the 53 kg. Junior boys category.

Michael Anduyan edged Josriel Bonghanoy of Cebu City by split decision in the 46 kg. division in the same category.

John Patrick Cubena defeated Victor Rafael of Tomas Oppus by unanimous decision in the 43 kg. School boys category.

In the same category at 45kg., Ruben Evale battered Aunoor Mann of Ormoc City and won by referee stopped contest.

Only Richard Bacala was the loser from the hosts when Vergel Serrano of Cebu City trounced him by split decision in the 65 kg. Elite category.

In other fights involving visiting boxers, John Dominic Ledres of Hilongos won by UD over Eduard Serrano of Cebu City in the 47 kg. Junior boys category.

Abel Yarte of Hilongos won by SD over John Ledres of Hindang in the 58 kg. Elite category.
