Sumalpong, Abne fighting for UBS flyweight title

DAVAO CITY --- Ronel "The Hawk" Sumalpong of Surigao del Sur will fight April Jay Abne of Cebu for the Ultimate Boxing Series (UBS) flyweight division title on Aug. 25 at the Tv5 Studio in Novaliches, Quezon City.
The 22-year old Sumalpong (7W-1L-1D, 5KO) stopped Ian Refuela of Cebu last July 8 in Tv5 Studio. He earlier beat Ruben Dadivas of Davao City by an unanimous decision last May 23 in the quarterfinals.
Abne, on the other hand, beat Joseph Bayuhay of Zamboanga del Sur last July 8.
He started the campaign with an unanimous decision over Ronel dela Cruz of Sultan Kudarat last May 23.
The promoter is Gerry Penalosa of Gerrypens Promotions Inc. (Lito delos Reyes)
