
"Too Sharp" Penalosa to fight Flores on Aug. 25

DAVAO CITY -- Carlo Caesar "Too Sharp" Penalosa of San Carlos City will face dangerous Maximino "Max" Flores of Mexico for the vacant International Boxing Organization World flyweight title on Aug. 25 at Tv5 Studio in Novaliches, Quezon City.
This was announced by the promoter Gerry Penalosa of the Gerrypens Promotions.
The 26-year old Penalosa (14W-1L-0D, 7KO) recently knocked out Watana Phenbaan of Thailand in the 3rd round last Feb. 16 in the SM City North EDSA Skydome in Quenzon City.
The southpaw fighter beat Cebu's Salatiel Amit by a split decision to win the vacant World Boxing Council Asian Boxing Council Silver flyweight title last 2017.
Penalosa has never been lost since seven fights.
He knocked out Rio Nainggolan of Indonesia in the 3rd round last March 10, 2018 in Mandaluyong City.
In July 7, 2018, Penalosa stopped Indonesian Ivan Key in the 5th round in Tagbilaran City.
He then pummeled to submission Jemsi Kibazange of Tanzania in the 3rd round last Sept. 30 in SM City North EDSA Skydome, Quezon City.
Flores, on the other hand, has 24 wins with 17 knockouts against 4 losses and 1 draw.
The 28-year old Flores TKO'd Jorge Miguel Hernandez of Mexico in the 1st round last Nov. 10 last Tijuana, Mexico.
He, however, earlier lost to Andrew Selby of United Kingdom by a unanimous decision last 2017 in London. (Lito delos Reyes)
