Salva to challenge Kriel for IBF World minimumweight title Aug. 24 in Manila

DAVAO CITY ? Undefeated Samuel ?Silent Assassin? Salva of Iligan City will challenge newly-crowned International Boxing Federation World mimimumweight champion DeeJay Kriel of South Africa on Aug. 24 in Manila.

The 22-year old Salva (17W-0L, 10KO) won a unanimous decision against Rene Mark Cuarto of Zamboanga last March 23, 2019 in Pasay City.

In 2017, Salva also TKO?d Marco John Rementizo of Cagayan de Oro via 1st round last Oct. 15 in Iligan to win the vacant Minproba minimumweight title.

It will be the first title defense of the 24-year old Kriel, who won via 12th round knockout against Carlos Licona of USA last Feb. 16, 2019 in Los Angeles, California.

Kriel (15W-1L-1D, 7KO) earlier won the WBC International minimumweight title by a unanimous decision over Xolisa Magusha of South Africa.

Kriel also won by a UD over Dexter Alimento of Iligan last July 23, 2017 at Kempton Park, South Africa.
