
Parrenas loses to Kurihara in 1st round

DAVAO CITY ? Filipino Warlito Parrenas lost his title fight to defending Orient and Pacific Boxing Federation bantamweight champion Keita Kurihara of Japan last Friday night at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.
The 36-year old Parrenas (26W-10L-1D, 23KO) was knockout in the first round only by Kurihara, who made his first title defense.
The 26-year old Kurihara scored his 14th win with 12th knockout against five loses.
Kurihara won the vacant OPBF bantamweight title by a unanimous decision over Yuki Strong Kobayashi last Dec. 24, 2018 in Osaka.
Meanwhile, Hironobu Matsunaga (15W-1L, 9KO) became the new Japanese super welterweight champion by retiring Nobuyuki Shindo (20W-5L-2D, 8KO) in the 6th round. (Lito delos Reyes)
