
Asis to fight Morgan for WBU welterweight title

DAVAO CITY ? Jack ?The Assassin? Asis (38W-21L-5D, 19KO) of Davao City will fight Bowyn ?BoMan? Morgan (19W-1L, 9KO) of New Zealand for the World Boxing Union welterweight title on May 17, 2019 at the Christchurch, New Zealand.
The 33-year old Asis, who is now a resident of Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, lost to Rivan Cesaire by a majority decision in Toowoomba last March 10, 2019.
But he won by a majority decision to Luke Woods in Nov. 25, 2018.
He won the vacant IBO World super featherweight title by technical knockout over Kye MacKenzie in April 11, 2015.
Asis, however, lost to Malcolm Klassen in the first title defense last Aug. 5, 2016.
Asis also lost to Can Xu of China in the WBA International super featherweight by unanimous decision in Xi An, Shanghai in May 7, 2017.
Morgan, on the other hand, also beat Luke Woods by unanimous decision last Sept. 7, 2018 in the IBO Asia Pacific welterweight title.
The 30-year old Morgan won against Sebastian Singh last Dec. 15, 2018 to take the vacant Pro Box New Zealand super welterweight title. (Lito delos Reyes)
