LAS VEGAS: Marcus Browne capitalized on Badou Jack?s bloodied forehead caused by an accidental clash of heads in the seventh round, scored a unanimous decision victory to win the World Boxing Association and World Boxing Council silver light-heavyweight crown Saturday night at the MGM Grand Arena here.

Attacking relentlessly on the cut from round eight to the final bell, Browne, the world?s ninth active 175-pound campaigner by the Transnational Boxing Ranking Board and The Ring, the New Yorker scored a near shutout.

Nordine Oubaali outboxed American Rau?shee Warren to emerge the new World Boxing Council bantamweight champion.

All the three judges were unanimous in their verdict in seeing Oubaali, who was fighting in the U.S. for the first time, the victor with judge Ricardo Ocasio giving the Pade-Calais native the last six rounds of the 12-round contest to come out with a close 115-113 decision.

Judge Julie Lederman had Oubaali winning eight rounds in her 116-112 verdictd, while Judge Steven Weisfeld saw the new champ winning in nine in his 117-111 scorecard.

In the first pay per view televised bout of the evening Mexican Hugo Ruiz outpointed substitute fighter Alberto Guevara, pinched hit for Filipino Jhack Tepora in a 10-round featherweight showdown.

Ruiz of Sinaloa dominated Guevara throughout, sending his fellow Mexican to the canvas in the 10th and final period and raised his kin-loss record to 37-4 with 31 KOs.

Tepora was disqualified from what could be his first appearance in big-time boxing after failing to make the 126-pound limit during Fridday?s official weigh-in.

Jonathan Steele of Dallas spoiled Filipino Jayar Inson?s debut in U.S. soil with a split decision victory in their eight-round welterweight class.

Only Inson?s gallant stand in the final round that impresed judge Chris Migliore prevented him from losing via unanimous decision. Judge Migliore saw him the victor on a close 78-73 count.

Judges Dave Moretti and Lisa Giampa both had Steele, who dropped the Davao City bet Inson to the canvas twice right after the opening bell, the winner via similar 77-74 cards.

It proved to be a bleak day for the two Filipino bets in the card as Greek-Australian lightweight Gerorge Kambosos Jr., WBA titlist Manny Pacquiao?s main sparring partner in this, his title fight against Adrien Broneer, showed too much class to North Hollywood-based Filipino-American Rey Perez on the way to a shutout unanimous decision victory in their eight-round date.

The promising Kambosos won all eight rounds in all three judges in keeping his unbeaten 16-0 win-loss slate, spiked by nine stoppage.

All three judges ? Tim Cheatham, Paricia Morse Jarman and Ricardo Ocasio ? saw Kambosos the winner by a whooping 80-72 verdicts.

Desmond Jarmon had Canton Miller at the palm of his hands but could only settle for a majority decision triumph.

Judge Adelaide Byrd had Jarmon the winneer by a lopsided 59-55 count. Judge Glenn Trowbridge also had him the victor via a 58-56 verdict. Judge Robert Hoyle robbed Jarmon of what could have been a unanimous win, submitting a 57-57 count.

Dwayne Butler of Chicago won over David Payne of nearby Los Angeles by unanimous decision in their four-round skirmish to remain unbeaten in his young five-fight welterweight career. The loss was Payne?s only second though, also in five pro outings.

In the four-round curtain-raiser, Viddal Riley of London, needed only 33 seconds and to disposed off Mitchell Spangler of Sacramento in a first round knockout victory in their cruiserweight scrap.
